Competency Modelling, Framework Design &
Implementation
Competency frameworks are a useful tool for distilling the key
elements of culture which contribute to an organisation's
success. Once mapped, the competency framework forms the basis of
an integrated approach to recruitment, performance management and
career development by providing a means of aligning and tracking
the accomplishment of both personal and business development
needs.
Competencies include the technical knowledge and skills people
require to do specific tasks as well as what are often termed
"soft skills" which incorporate the emotional competencies or "EQ" like leadership, interpersonal communication, and
team working. Although there are broad "core
competencies" considered to be important across all
businesses, these generally require tailoring to take into
account each organisation's current and future needs based on
internal factors such as organisational culture as well as
external pressures such as the market environment, political
climate and economy.
As well as incorporating competency frameworks into our
coaching programmes, we assist organisations in developing their
own competency frameworks for appraisal, performance management
& development purposes.
Our involvement may extend from the assessment and refinement
of existing in-house competency frameworks through to bespoke
design and implementation. We work with you to identify technical
and role specific competencies and advise on the incorporation of
these into job specifications, training programmes and appraisal
and review procedures.
